Turns out Yosemite really is everything it's cracked up to be.
Neither of our parents ever took us, so David and I decided it was about time to take ourselves (especially now that we live only 5 hours away!) Gideon beat us there by a long shot – hopefully he'll make the trip again before he hits his 20s.

We had a lovely time hiking in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) and having a fun adventure at the top of the hill (more to come on that later). I love seeing all the different types of greenery in this part of the world, some similar to our's back in California, others not so common...

I was very happy to meet them as well; I had heard a lot about them, especially Robert who accompanied David and a couple more of our friends on a boys trip to Ireland – hilarious stories from that trip involving sandwiches on the run and stinky socks! We were also pretty happy to be in Bavaria where they roll their R's in the front of their mouth instead of the back; which made understanding and speaking Deutsch much easier for us Americans...
