There was no way we were going be 20 minutes from the border of Austria – even better, the city of Salzburg – and not cross over into it. This colorful city was so much fun to walk through. It was just a short trip, but it was the perfect amount of time because weaving through tourists gets old pretty fast (for me at least). I loved the vibrant gardens, the old city buildings, and one of the, now, many lock bridges...

Just a 3 hour train ride south to Traunstein and a 20 minute drive to the small village of Petting and he was reunited with them again! I was very happy to meet them as well; I had heard a lot about them, especially Robert who accompanied David and a couple more of our friends on a boys trip to Ireland – hilarious stories from that trip involving sandwiches on the run and stinky socks! We were also pretty happy to be in Bavaria where they roll their R's in the front of their mouth instead of the back; which made understanding and speaking Deutsch much easier for us Americans...

Traveling in foreign places allows for many ups and downs, and we were happy to have a great experience at the Waldhotel. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was tasty and filling, the proximity to Gimmelwald was grand, and the view was exquisite. I'd recommend this place to anyone!
