Tip #2: Head on over to all your local thrift shops – they're the perfect place to find some fun, spunky decorations for your home this holiday season. If you're lucky, they will have already searched out all their Christmasy things and set them up in a lovely, festive display for you to choose from.
Now, lets talk Hallmark – is it just me, or are prices getting ridiculous for ornaments and the rest of holiday trimmings, not to mention, things are looking more plastic and unoriginal than ever. A peruse to a thrift store is just what you need to get your creative, holiday spirits flowing! And while your'e at it, put together a box of old things; this way you can upgrade your collection, affordably, for a whole new, exciting look!
Plus, I love the thought of ornaments being shared, like they say, "one person's trash is another one's treasure"!
If you're a SLO dweller like me, then I beg of you, go to Fred and Betty's on Higuera and Mission Thrift off of Broad; you will not be sorry. Even if your home is already overflowing with Christmas spirit, I promise a stroll through these wonderful displays of antiques and uniques will be just as fun and heart warming without a buy. I warn you though, it will be hard to leave empty handed.
Happy Thirfting!
